Stefan Klinger

Currently I'm taking a sabbatical, mostly travelling New Zealand, tramping, bouldering... I'll be hard to contact, your best bet is to send an email. But don't expect a speedy answer: I really do enjoy staying away from computers...

Before that, I was working as a research assistant and PhD candidate at the Database & Information Systems Group at Universität Konstanz.

Research – PathfinderFT

I've been working on the PathfinderFT project, an attempt to extend the purely relational XQuery compiler Pathfinder with a scoring infrastructure to finally support XQuery Full-Text. My current prototype compiles a subset of XQuery Full-Text into relational algebra, which is then digested and optimised by the Pathfinder compiler, and handed on to the MonetDB database backend for execution. See my dissertation for details.

Teaching

During that time, I also enjoyed teaching the purely functional programming language Haskell. Teaching is really fun, but it consumes a vast amount of time… If you like programming languages, you should have a look into that.
